What a notification is here
When a security you hold or watch has a notable event, the application creates a notification in its notification centre — the "Notifications" page, reached from your profile. That is the first channel, and it always exists. The second is push: the same notification, also sent to a device you have enabled, even with the application closed. One list, two ways of being told.
Setting what deserves a notification
Open "More", then "Profile", then the "Notifications" card. Three settings, which apply to both channels:
- "Minimum importance level": below it, nothing is created.
- "Alert types": price moves, unusual volume, new articles and challenges — each with its threshold when it has one.
- "Quiet hours": during the window, nothing is created; the event is not lost, the notification arrives afterwards.
Finish with "Save preferences". Until you save something, the sober default settings apply.
Enabling a device
In the same card, under "Notifications on this device", the button "Enable on this device" does two things, in this order: it asks the browser for permission — the only moment it is ever asked — then it registers this device. The line "Active on this device. Each device is enabled separately." confirms both. A phone and a computer are two devices: each one is enabled on its own.
If enabling does not go through, the message under the button says why, and what to do:
- permission denied: it is restored in the site settings, in the browser — the message shows the gesture;
- iPhone or iPad: first add Everyfolio to the home screen (Share button, then "Add to Home Screen"); the option becomes available afterwards;
- browser without web notifications: the application keeps showing them when you open it;
- "not yet configured on the server": it is not your device; try again later.
The channel, without unsubscribing
Under "Channels", the box "Also send to my phone (push)" mutes the megaphone without unsubscribing anything: unchecked, notifications stay in the centre and stop ringing on your devices; checked again, everything resumes without a new permission. That is the gesture for a pause. "Disable on this device", on the other hand, unsubscribes the device: to resume, you will have to enable it again.
What happens next — and why nothing arrives
The application examines your securities every fifteen minutes, during US market hours (weekdays, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern). An event only produces a notification if it reaches your minimum level and belongs to an enabled type — and only once: no reminder, no duplicate.
So, if nothing arrives: in the evening and on weekends, that is normal; a quiet week for your securities is normal too — the application flags what is out of the ordinary, not the noise of the market. To know the chain is working, two markers: the line "Active on this device" in your profile, and the notification centre, which receives exactly what push sends. There is no test notification: the first real one will be the proof.
One special case: if the "Notifications" page opens on the notice "Prices are not shown on this account", no price notification is created for that account — neither in the centre nor by push — until the application has a licence to show prices to people other than its owner. Article and challenge publications still arrive as usual. The notice states the cause; there is nothing to set on your side.
